Experience the closest encounters between your lens and the wild at El Remanso with Nature photography.
A walk through the forest will undoubtedly take you to the most unexpected bits of heaven and put you right up close to creatures you never even knew existed; but even just a short walk around the tropical garden or a patient wait on the terrace of your rainforest cabin will bring you the perfect photo opportunities in the most spectacular and pristine location for nature photography.
At El Remanso always carry your camera with you, because wildlife is everywhere. Also because it is unpredictable and it will constantly pop out the moment you’re least expecting it! A tip for catching that toucan you’ve been hoping to photograph: wait around the fruited trees in the afternoon. It will come right to you if it’s hungry! With almost 3% of the Earth's flora, 323 species of plants and vertebrates found nowhere else on the planet, the largest population of Scarlet Macaws in Central America, over 4,000 vascular plants, more than 10,000 species of insects, roughly 800 species of trees, 463 bird species, 140 different mammals including 25 species of dolphins and whales, 4 kinds of sea turtles nesting on our beaches and views that simply take your breath away, the Osa Peninsula stands alone; and El Remanso is just the place to discover it from. Our nature reserve is part of a 7,500-acre reserve called the Osa National Wildlife Refuge, which serves as a buffer zone or a forest extension of the National Park of Corcovado. Common sightings include Scarlet Macaws, all four species of monkeys found in Costa Rica, coatis, toucans, agoutis, the red-eyed tree frog, mesmerizing butterflies and tall, tall trees. Despite being quite easy to see on El Remanso property, many of them are endangered species! El Remanso’s protected forests offer unique opportunities to experience wildlife up close, to witness the intricate interactions between species and to learn about the delicate balance of life in the rainforest. Our resident guides will gladly give you some useful information and tips on how to find certain animals or by keeping an eye out for them if you ask them to. Nature photography is something that we provide best for our guests.
