El Remanso’s kitchen crew training!

Running 100% on micro-hydro electricity produced on our property is something we’re definitely proud of although it does impose certain limitations; and not only the impossibility of supporting hairdryers… Imagine our kitchen: coffee makers, industrial blenders and bread processers are all luxuries we cannot indulge in if we want to continue being completely self-sustained when it comes to power. However, just as vital as it is to us to be environmentally friendly, so it is for our guests to indulge in the most satisfying culinary experience. We want to leave you not only with great memories of the adventures and wildlife you’ve encountered, but also with the taste of high cuisine with local ingredients in the middle of the jungle. For this reason we have contracted the services of international chef & consultant Alex Mendez to endeavor the mission of assessing our restaurant, creating a new menu and training out local kitchen staff in the basic arts of serious cooking. It is our belief at El Remanso that the people in our community should have the chance to learn and grow with us. Because of our lodge’s small structure and remote location we cannot afford to send our staff out to training, we discovered that even better would be to bring an outside expert to teach them onsite, where they are now learning top quality skills and recipes in the most hidden corner of the rainforest. Chef Alex Mendez has studied and worked all over the world, and is transmitting his experience and knowledge with innate teaching skills to our eager-to-learn kitchen staff, who will undoubtedly surprise you with our recently launched menu! ¡Buen provecho!
