Just few words to tell you that we are thinking of you. We lauched this week our new sailboat a Jeanneau 45Ds and we name it ... El Remanso.

The perfect name who remember us our favorite place in nature.

Dear Adrianna and Daniel,

I hope you remember us. We stayed at the El Remanso in the La Guinda room at the end of April. Matt was celebrating his 50th birthday. It was a very special trip for us.

We need to tell you again how much we loved your lodge. You are wonderful people, warm, gracious and intelligent and you have such a wonderful staff. We enjoyed every minute we were there and were very sad to leave. We are planning to return to Costa Rica and the Osa soon and we are sure that we will stay with you again.

We were so impressed with the kindness and hospitality at the El Remanso. That you are truly an eco lodge held great appeal. Your food was fantastic. We had planned to travel to Corcovado National Park but never went as we found that there was such an endless amount of wildlife and rainforest to explore right on the hotel grounds. Gerardo was by far the best guide we have ever been with. His knowledge, generosity and enthusiasm was infectious and we have a much greater appreciation for the bio-diversity of the Osa after spending time with him. Angie is such a sweet person and we are grateful for all the assistance she gave us and in making us feel so welcome upon our arrival and throughout our stay.

Our trip to El Remanso is very much in our hearts and we hold dear our memories of each of you, and the warmth and kindness of your staff while we were there. Until we meet again, be well and keep up the amazing job that you are doing to introduce people to the Osa and its treasures.

Dear Adriana-Thanks so much for your kind words! We had a fabulous time at El Remanso and enjoyed all our rooms, esp the last- at La Vaneille (sp)- and all the delicious food!!! We were thrilled to see so many monkeys, bats, frogs, toads, coati, crabs, etc etc- a virtual living jungle....thank you to everyone there, esp Michael and Charlene, who were always charming- as were housekeepers, gardners, kitchen staff and everyone else we encountered.We hope to get back there again soon!Thanks again-

I am back at work and hating it! :)

The rest of our trip was also very nice, except for the scorpio, gecko and huge spider that we found in our room...a little to "one with the forest" for us...:) We miss you guys immensely and hope to see you again someday.

Llegámos anoche a New York y por supuesto encontrámos el invierno mas profundo. Ésta mañana, mientras andábamos a la escuela Milo y yo, el me dijo: “En éste preciso momento, Gerardo está arreglando el telescopio en la terraza; quien estaba en la plataforma del zip-line se está sentando para desayunar, y mientras aqui escuchamos el ruido del martillo pneumático en Broadway, quizás un grupo de monos esté produciendo otro jaleo en los arboles alrededor de El Remanso.”

Tenéis un establecimiento muy especial, pero eso ya lo sabéis. Os agradecemos no solo la profesionalidad con la que la lleváis, sino tambien la amistad que quizás podamos mantener, a pesar de la distancia. Repito la invitación que os hicimos ayer (¿es posible – fue solo ayer?): os invitamos a cenar con nosotros en nuestro remanso en la 33ésima planta.

Dearest Adraina

I can't believe it has taken me so long to get back in contact with you. (And you are such a special and amazing and efficient person...) You are all so often in our thoughts - I have told so many people about our magical holiday at your beautiful lodge. We are a well travelled family and I am not sure if I have ever had such a relaxing, re-charging, exhilarating 2 week break as the time we spent with you - we all got back to London in such a positive frame of mind, ready to tackle the year ahead. Thank you again for a truly wonderful experience - the boys are nagging for us to return as soon as we can!!!!! A real compliment to you and all at El Remanso

We got back to a really cold winter here in London - a real shock to our systems after Costa Rica - but the snow 2 weeks ago was a lot of fun and the boys were thrilled to miss school for a couple of days and play in the snow!

And you, how are you all at El Remanso? What news do you have?

I also do want to remind you that I would love the white long sleeve t-shirt from the lodge - you were going to let me now when the order arrives - I can then continue to be a good advert for your lodge!

I would love to hear from you - and also ask that you send lots of love and best wishes to all at El Remanso.

I am back in my office at Google in Mountain View, CA. I am on a total high from my amazing 19 days in Costa Rica. I cannot thank you enough for the fantastic greeting you and your team gave me when I first came to CR. You spoiled me!

I took almost 4000 photos. I have lots of sorting, reviewing, and publishing to do. I will send them your way once I have narrowed them down to my top 10, top 100, top 200, etc.

I just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful stay we had at El Remanso. Costa Rica was beautiful! My mom, my sisters and I agreed that the people there were some of the kindest, most helpful we have met. This made our visit so enjoyable as we truly felt special. The meals were delicious and plentiful. We also enjoyed how knowledgeable your staff was regarding the flora and fauna and how they would point out special things to us. Thank you again for getting me prompt medical care for my headache that would not go away. I will definitely recommend El Remanso to my friends and family as a wonderful experience and hopefully one day I will return. Thank you!

Adrianna, We've finally made it back home to CT. it's cold and snowy here.. wish we were back there. Our family really enjoyed our time at El Remanso. Adriana -- You and Daniel and your staff gave us a magnificent (and greatly needed!) vacation. We had such a wonderfully relaxing time as a family. Since you took care of the necessities we could concentrate on just being with each other and doing terrific things together... Thank you! Each of my stays with you has reminded me that there's another area of recycling that you could do . . . weaving your old bed sheets and table cloths into beautiful rag rugs! I've been a weaver for many, many years. You can see some of my wool tapestries on my website (wovenwinds.googlepages.com <http://wovenwinds.googlepages.com> ). However, I also weave old sheets, curtains, and table cloths into rag rugs. Very simple, elegant designs lead to very attractive, practical rag rugs. You would use a few in each cabin/room, for wiping sandy feet before hopping into bed! This year I am embarking on a project teaching weaving as part of an English as a second language program with immigrants in New York City . . . perhaps some day I can bring this project to El Remanso and teach interested members of your staff to weave . . . Hi Adriana!

We are now back in Washington D.C. and have been talking all day about the absolutely wonderful time we had this past week with you and all our friends at El Remanso. All day, the kids, Niels and I keep saying, "I miss Costa Rica" and "I wish I were back at El Remanso". We just can't thank you enough for this great week in our lives. Both Anika and Hans agree that this is the best vacation we have ever had. There are so many things that made it special... The natural environment was, of course, just spectacular. The beautiful El Remanso, with it's gorgeous view sitting up in the treetops overlooking forest and sea, is remarkable. But more than anything else, it is the people that we remember and we miss. You and Danny are such gracious, warm, wonderful hosts, and we just love your "family" -- Jose, Elyer, Mikael and or course Gerardo. They were so wonderful to us and made us and the kids feel so special. My kids just can't stop talking about them all. We really did feel as if we became part of your "family", and we hope that we will never lose that special place. Thank you!

We have been looking through our pictures today, and Hans is preparing a special CD of the best photos to send to you. Anika is also going to put some copies into a little book for you. Hopefully we will get this finished soon, and send it through our trustworthy courier, Carlos Manuel! So don't forget to be thinking of some good DVDs that you would like to see, Adriana!

Please give Danny and your Mom our love -- along with our friends Gerardo, Mikael, Jose and Elyer, OK? And please stay in touch! We miss you all...

Hi Adriana -- I just wanted to drop you a note now that I've managed to get somewhat settled back into reality in San Francisco. My trip back was without hitch. The driver Luis met me in San Jose and gave me a little tour of the town and we had a nice lunch in the central market before heading to the airport. Thank you for arranging that!

My whole trip was so exceptional for me that I'm not sure that I will be able to top it ever. My instincts were right on from the moment that I decided to come and stay at El Remanso--in large part thanks to you and Daniel. You made the choice so easy to make and were so kind and hospitable. The only low part of the entire trip was leaving. El Remanso is beautiful. You have managed to create such a tranquil and unobtrusive environment. If the birds and the animals could talk, I'm sure they would also thank you for that! :-)

I think that I have some nice pictures--- hopefully since I took about a billion of them. Anyway, if you would like to see them, I can post them online and send you a link when they are ready.

But, I just really wanted to say thanks so much for everything. I can't get it out of my mind how great it would be to have just stayed there. If the opportunity were to arise, I would take it for sure!

HI Adri:

Just a quick note to let you know I made it back to NYC safely. I'm glad I went to the Arenal volcano, but unfortunately it was cloaked in clouds (a donut around the top), so I wasn't able to see the lava flow or hike, but enjoyed la Fortuna and the gardens at the Country Inn. Hotel Dunn Inn was able to give me a room upstairs my last night, which was MUCH better. Of course my time at El Remanso was the best part of my trip! Truly it is a very special place. New York seems so noisy after the sounds of the forest! I'm going to encourage one of my sisters to go to El Remanso and may be back myself some day. Keep OSA natural.

Hey, Adri...

...I'm 'homesick' for El Remanso - and just arrived in my house at 2 am!!!

Made Gallo Pinto for breakfast - but not as delicious indoors!

Truly, my time with you was a life altering experience. It is my third...first was Ireland - 12 yrs ago. Five years ago - a working ranch in Wyoming where the owner has 150 dogs for his dogsled business and I worked along with him for a week. And, now...El Remanso. Largely because of you and what you have created, Adri. You are an amazing woman and it has been such a pleasure (a real gift) to be in your company.

I genuinely mean that I'd love to have you and Daniel - and your Mom visit me in Wayne if the opportunity ever arises. Separately, together, any combination! Know your time off is precious...but perhaps a flight that leaves you in Philadelphia for a few days on your way to or from Europe is a possibility. Just know that you are always welcome.

On my flight home it ocurred to me that there was simply an infusion of 'wonder' that made every moment spectacular.

Hope you enjoy 'Amangansett' - the book I left with you. Know that Barb left you "Water for Elephants" - another incredible book. You'll really love that one. Very cleverly written. A HUGE one that I am looking forward to reading is Ken Follett's laatest "World Without End." Sequeal to "Pillars of the Earth" written maybe 20 years ago. If you have not read that one...put it on your list!
